Mokama , also Mokameh , is a city in the state of Bihar in eastern India . It is part of the Patna district . Mokama has the status of a City Council ( Nagar panchayat ). The city is divided into 28 wards (constituencies). It is 90 km east of Patna on the southern bank of the Ganges .

Demographics

The city's population is 60,678 according to the 2011 census. Barh has a gender ratio of 873 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 72.8% in 2011. Almost 94% of the population are Hindus , around 5% are Muslims and around 1% belong to other religions. 14.8% of the population are children under 6 years of age. 17.1% of the population are part of the Scheduled Castes .

Infrastructure

Mokama is located on National Highway 50 and National Highway 31, which connects Mokama with major cities in India. The city also has its own train station.

economy

The main occupation of most of the residents is agriculture and the city is surrounded by farmland. The main crops are lentils , chickpeas and mustard seeds . Many different types of fruits and vegetables are also grown.
