Molar Island is an icy and irregularly shaped island about 400 m long off the Eights coast of the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It lies between the Early Islands and the Cosgrove Ice Shelf in the extreme southwestern part of Ferrero Bay . A special feature is the open water area around the island, while Ferrero Bay is otherwise frozen on the land side.
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 2009 after its shape that a molar tooth ( english molar recalls).
