The Moldy Peaches are an anti-folk group from New York City . It was founded by Adam Green and Kimya Dawson . Other members of the band are bassist Steve Mertens , drummer Strictly Beats and guitarists Jack Dishel and Toby Goodshank .

history

Green and Dawson first met at Exile on Main Street Records' studio in Mount Kisco, New York and began their collaboration. In the late 1990s , the group was part of the New York underground scene, hence the sometimes strange costumes, for example frog outfits.

Both Adam Green and Kimya Dawson are currently focused on their solo careers. According to Kimya Dawson, The Moldy Peaches are only inactive, by no means dead.

In early 2008, the song Anyone Else But You from the first Moldy Peaches album was used for the independent film Juno and brought the band new attention. Adam Green and Kimya Dawson appeared among others. a. at the film premiere and on the Whoopie Goldberg TV show . The soundtrack for Juno reached gold status in the US and landed at number one on the Billboard charts. In Germany it entered the sales charts at number 81. On February 8, 2009, the soundtrack was even awarded a Grammy for "Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media".
