Moledo is a Portuguese town and a former community ( freguesia ) in the concelho Caminha . It is located about three kilometers south of Caminha on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean . The community had 1318 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). The patron saint of the place is St. Pelagius .

The 17th century Forte da Ínsua is classified as a Monumento Nacional .

With the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Moledo and Cristelo were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Moledo e Cristelo . Moledo is the seat of this newly formed community.
