The Molenbrücke is a cyclist and pedestrian bridge in Dresden , which spans the exit of the Pieschener Hafen at Elbe kilometer 58.0 on a 34 meter high pylon. The structure erected between 2009 and 2010 is a cable-stayed bridge .
The 140 t heavy structure is 150 m long and consists of 3 sub-structures. An airtight, welded hollow box girder made of steel (S 355 J2 G3) was produced for the stiffening girders, which was suspended from a biaxial, symmetrically spread A-pylon using inclined bracing in a fan system in two lateral levels. The other parts of the structure form a platform and a 61.35 m long ramp structure.
The bridge connects Leipziger Strasse with the pier at Pieschener Hafen, which protrudes into the water of the Elbe as a more than 500 meter long headland . With the inauguration in September 2010, a gap on the busy Elbe Cycle Route was closed. Planning for the bridge began in 2000. A newly built, 600-meter-long cycle path across the pier serves as access. 75 percent of the cost of 2.6 million euros was borne by the European Union , the rest by the city of Dresden.
The bridge is illuminated by LED lights. For environmental and nature conservation reasons, these are only integrated into the southern handrail. At the northern end of the bridge is the steel sculpture Undine by Angela Hampel .
