The Momchil Peak (English; Bulgarian Момчилов връх Momchil wrach ) is a 620 m high and icy mountain on Greenwich Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises north of the Scherawna Glacier , 1.8 km northeast of Razgrad Peak and 1.47 km northwest of the Viskyar Ridge in the Breznik Heights .
Bulgarian scientists mapped it in the course of surveying the Tangra Mountains on the neighboring Livingston Island between 2004 and 2005. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2005 after the town of Momchilgrad in southern Bulgaria in connection with Momchil (≈1305–1345), a Bulgarian robber baron and quasi-independent ruler in the Rhodope Mountains during the Byzantine Civil War (1341-1347) .
