Monburg is a hamlet and part of the municipality of Heretsried in the Swabian district of Augsburg in Bavaria ( Germany ).
Until the regional reform in Bavaria on July 1, 1972, the independent municipality of Affaltern with its two districts Monburg and Salmannshofen belonged to the district of Wertingen and was then added to the district of Augsburg (initially called the district of Augsburg-West ). Monburg was reclassified to Heretsried on May 1, 1978 , Affaltern and Salmannshofen came to Biberbach .
Monburg belongs to the Catholic parish Sankt Martin in Heretsried .
