Mondkalb - Zeitschrift für das Organized Verliebe is an alternative magazine about disability and exclusion , which is aimed primarily at a non-disabled readership. The magazine has been published several times a year in Berlin since 2007 and is available free of charge to the public (in pubs, cafés, libraries, adult education centers ...).

history

In 2006 the Naturfreundejugend Berlin held a seminar on disability: Are you still completely normal? Disability. Be disabled. Be disabled . The idea arose to take up and deepen this topic in a separate newspaper.

The name Mondkalb - magazine for organized afflictions goes back to an idea of the co-founder Karsten Krampitz . The moon calf was once referred to as the "freak birth" of domestic cattle , because the cause of the malformation was seen in the influence of the moon . Hence the name seemed appropriate for the newspaper. The first issue appeared on May 5, 2007, on the EU Day of Protest on Equality for Disabled People .

content

Prejudices and a predominantly medical view of disability ( medical model of disability ) contribute to negative attitudes towards people with disabilities. They are seen clichéd as sick, faulty and abnormal people, as objects for professional intervention, as a burden for themselves and their families, depending on the mercy (undeserved leniency) of other people.
Dr. Stefan Schneider, social scientist: "The fact that disability is not a purely birth-related fate, but is often socially produced and cemented, reveals the subtitle. Journal for Organized Disabilities . The association with Al Capone , the Mafia , Yakuza and other types of subversive action that im Generally stigmatized with the term crime , it should suggest: Here are perpetrators at work, not victims. "

Infrastructural , institutional and attitude barriers, disability as a social construct ( social model of disability ) in the sense of disability studies as well as other topics related to the body, body politics and standardization are mostly viewed in the articles with humor and / or sarcasm .
