Crescent Madonna in Yzeure

The sculpture of the Madonna of the Moon in the church of St-Pierre in Yzeure , a French commune in the Allier department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region , was created in the 18th century. In 1989 the Crescent Madonna was classified as a Monument historique .

The 1.30-meter-high sculpture made of wood, in the altarpiece of the main altar stands is polychrome taken and gilded. Mary is shown standing on clouds and the crescent moon. The clouds are adorned with three angel heads. A canopy is attached over the figure .
