Monika Herz (born Monika Schmidt on July 12, 1951 in Letschin , GDR ) is a German pop singer.

Life

After an apprenticeship as a commercial artist, she joined the folk art ensemble of the Eisenhüttenkombinat Ost . From 1970 she produced regularly for the radio of the GDR , in 1972 her first single was released by Amiga ("Zärtlich you shall stay"). From around this time on, she was also one of the most frequently appearing GDR stars and one of the television favorites on GDR television.
