Emil Maetzel was a member of the Hamburg Secessionists ' group of artists , where he temporarily acted as chairman and as chief construction director for Hamburg's city planner Fritz Schumacher . Not least because of the large garden with swimming pond, his house was an attraction for the group of artists.

Act

In 1947 Monika Maetzel founded her own ceramic workshop in her parents' house. For over 50 years she created high-quality utility ceramics as a freelancer. Her works have been exhibited regularly at the Frankfurt Fair and in the Hamburg Museum of Art and Industry . Maetzel trained 45 apprentices and temporarily acted as head master. The painter Volker Meier completed an apprenticeship in ceramics with her. After she had to move to a senior citizens' residence in 2003, a group of friends tried to keep her place of work.
