Monika Schärer

Monika Schärer (born June 1, 1968 in Wettingen ) is a Swiss television and radio presenter .

Life

Monika Schärer grew up in Endingen in the canton of Aargau . After graduating from high school and a short training at a drama school in Hamburg, she became a presenter and editor at Radio DRS 3 in 1989 .

In 1994 she switched to Swiss television , first to the cultural program neXt , then to SF special , Babylon / Hotel B. , as an editor for people magazine glanz & gloria , and since 1999 also as a presenter of travel programs such as Fernweh , Simply Luxurious , or for the knowledge magazine Einstein . From April 29, 2009 she moderated the program Box Office . Schärer has been a member of the Board of Trustees for the Hotlist , the annual prize awarded by German-speaking independent publishers , since 2010 .

She is also active as a film and radio drama speaker, reader, columnist and presenter at numerous cultural events.

Her first book was published in 2008. It contains conversations with eleven Swiss TV moderators about their work.

In 2011 Monika Schärer took over Topicfilm AG together with director and producer Christian Rösch, which was founded in 1962 by advertiser Victor Cohen.

In 2012 she made her first documentary for Swiss television: "ROUSSEAUS KINDER - A reality check in Alaska's wilderness with the Swiss emigrant family Kilcher"
