Monique Landry

Monique Landry , PC (born December 25, 1937 in Montreal , Québec ) is a former Canadian politician of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada (PC).

Life

Monique Landry, the occupational physiotherapist and entrepreneur was, was a candidate of the Progressive Conservative Party in the general election September 4, 1984 for the first time to MPs in the lower house elected and represented there until its defeat in the general election on 25 October 1993 the constituency Blainville-Deux-Montagnes . During her parliamentary membership, she was a member of the Standing Committee on Communications and Culture from November 1984 to August 1986 .

Shortly thereafter, on November 1, 1984, she took over her first government office as Parliamentary Secretary to the Secretary of State for Canada and then from November 25, 1985 to June 29, 1986, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for International Trade.

She then took over on June 30, 1986 in the cabinet of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, the offices of Minister for Francophonie and Minister for Foreign Relations at the Foreign Minister and held these offices until January 3, 1993. She was also between April 21, 1991 and on January 3, 1993 Minister of State for Indian Affairs and Northern Development. Most recently, she was Secretary of State for Canada in the Mulroney cabinet from January 4 to June 24, 1993.

She also kept the post of State Secretary for Canada in the subsequent cabinet of Prime Minister Kim Campbell from June 25 to November 3, 1993. At the same time, she was also Minister of Communications and responsible regional minister for Québec during this time.
