Monisha Kaltenborn

Monisha Kaltenborn , b. Narang (* 10. May 1971 in Dehradun , Uttarakhand , India ) is an Austrian lawyer, Motorsport - functionary and former team owner. From 2010 to 2017 she was Chief Executive Officer of Sauber Motorsport AG and during this time held a third of the shares in the company.

Life

Kaltenborn was born in India as Monisha Narang. At the age of eight she emigrated with her parents to Austria , where her uncle was already working. After graduating from school, she completed a law degree at the University of Vienna from 1990 to 1995 and obtained a Master of Laws in International Business Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1996 . She first worked at the Gleiss Lutz law firm in Stuttgart, then briefly at Wolf Theiss und Partner in Vienna. In 1998 she moved to the Fritz Kaiser Group in Liechtenstein , which was involved in the Sauber Formula 1 racing team . As a lawyer, Kaltenborn was responsible for this commitment. When the Fritz Kaiser Group withdrew from the racing team, Kaltenborn moved to the legal department of Sauber in 2000 and was accepted into the management of the racing team in 2001.

When Sauber was sold to the car manufacturer BMW in 2006 , Kaltenborn kept her position in the racing team that was now called BMW Sauber . She played an important role in bringing about the sixth Concorde Agreement . After BMW withdrew from the racing team at the end of 2009 and sold it to founder Peter Sauber , she became Chief Executive Officer of Sauber Motorsport AG at the beginning of 2010 . In May 2012, Peter Sauber announced that he had transferred a third of the team shares to Kaltenborn. On October 11, Kaltenborn also took over the position of team boss of the Formula 1 racing team from Peter Sauber and is the first team boss in Formula 1. On June 21, 2017, Kaltenborn was relieved of her duties at Sauber.

On February 16, 2018 it was announced that Kaltenborn had founded the KDC Racing racing team, which is to compete in the German and Italian Formula 4 championships .

Personal

Monisha Kaltenborn is married to the German lawyer Jens Kaltenborn, whom she met during her time in Stuttgart. The two have two children and live in Küsnacht ZH .
