The Mons Ioannis Pauli II ( Latin for John Paul II Mountain ) is a 1110 m high and snow-capped mountain with some rocky outcrops made of lava rock in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . In the Heritage Range of the Ellsworth Mountains, it rises 1 km west-northwest of the main summit of the Patriot Hills 250 m above the ice sheets in the Horseshoe Valley .
Italian scholars named him in 2003 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the pontificate of Pope John Paul II.
