The Monte Pasubio mountain hermit ( Chortopodisma cobellii ) is a species of grasshopper from the family of field locusts (Acrididae).
features
The Monte Pasubio mountain hermit is similar to the Monte Baldo mountain hedge . It has no wings. The hearing organ has receded except for small remnants. The body is colored light green. Compared to other wingless mountain horrors, the species has only a significantly shortened dark longitudinal band on the flanks of the body. As a rule, it only extends to the posterior edge of the pronotum lateral lobes. In the males, the longitudinal ligament can also extend further back and is then broken up into individual spots. The underside of the hind legs is orange. The back rails are yellow.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is endemic to the Italian Alps . So far, it is only known from a very limited area around Monte Pasubio at altitudes of 1600 to 2200 meters. Adults can be found from August to October.
