Montelavar is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Sintra . The community had 3544 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

With the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Montelavar, Almargem do Bispo and Pêro Pinheiro were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Almargem do Bispo, Pêro Pinheiro e Montelavar .
