history

The parish was created on March 11, 1988, when it was separated from the Montelavar parish . On June 30, 1989, the place was raised to a small town ( Vila ).

With the spelling reform in 1990, the spelling of the place name of Pêro Pinheiro changed to the current form.

With the administrative reorganization in Portugal in 2013 , the municipality was dissolved and part of the new municipality União das Freguesias de Almargem do Bispo, Pero Pinheiro e Montelavar .
