Santa Maria e São Miguel is a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Sintra . The community had 9,342 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). It represents part of the urban area of ​​Sintra.

In the course of the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the inner-city municipalities of Sintra (Santa Maria e São Miguel), Sintra (São Martinho) and Sintra (São Pedro de Penaferrim) became the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Sintra (Santa Maria e São Miguel, São Martinho e São Pedro de Penaferrim) . Sintra (Santa Maria e São Miguel) is the seat of this newly formed community.
