The Moore embayment is a large and icy bay at the Hillary Coast of the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It lies between the Shults Peninsula and Minna Bluff on the northwest side of the Ross Ice Shelf .
Participants in the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904), led by British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott, discovered them. It is named after Admiral Arthur Moore (1847-1943) of the Royal Navy , head of the naval association in Cape Town , South Africa , who had provided the necessary resources for the overhaul of the expedition ship RRS Discovery for its onward journey to New Zealand .
