The Moore Peak is an approximately 2500 m high mountain peaks on the Antarctic Ross Island . It rises 2.6 km west-southwest of the main summit of Mount Terror on its western slope and 1.5 km south of Mount Sutherland .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2000 at the suggestion of the New Zealand geochemist Philip Raymond Kyle after James A. Moore, a member of the team of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology from Socorro , New Mexico , who worked in two Antarctic between 1983 and 1986 Summer campaigns on Mount Erebus .
