In the multi-billion dollar world of pornography, the term mope refers to a low-level wannabe performer who may not be well equipped or otherwise attractive enough to become a big pornstar. On the film sets there are mopes on the lowest level and are only used for gang-bang scenes with a large number of participants. Two of these mopes, Stephen Clancy Hill and Herbert Wong, known for their porn alter egos Steve Driver and Tom Dong, are real friends, but driven by false hopes and an increasing loss of reality, this friendship is soon in danger.

Porn actor Tom Dong , born Herbert Wong, was murdered in June 2010 and was only 30 years old at the time. Stephen Clancy Hill, who appeared in pornographic films under the name Steve Driver , died a few days later while being arrested by the police for the alleged murder of his fellow actor and for the attack on two other people.

It is Lucas Heyne's directorial debut . The score was composed by Jonathan Snipes . The soundtrack album is due to be released on March 27, 2020 by Fat Beats Records as a download and in a limited edition on music cassette.

The film was shown for the first time in January 2019 as part of the Sundance Film Festival . In September 2019 it will be in the program at the Fantasy Filmfest .
