Morat is a Colombian folk-pop band from Bogotá that has been performing since 2015. The group currently consists of the following four members: Simón Vargas Morales, Juan Pablo Isaza Pineros, Martín Vargas Morales and Juan Pablo Villamil Cortés.

history

The four band members have known each other since school days and finally decided to found a band in 2015. At the beginning Alejandro Posada played drums, who left the band in 2016. He was later replaced by Martín Vargas Morales, the brother of Simón Vargas Morales.

Morat released their first album Sobre El Amor Y Sus Efectos Secundarios on June 17th, 2016, which was particularly successful in Latin America and Spain. The first single, Mi nuevo vicio , was awarded platinum.

For their debut album, the band was also nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category "Best Newcomer" in 2016 .

Due to the increasing popularity, especially in the Spanish-speaking world, Morat also collaborated with well-known artists such as Juanes , Álvaro Soler and Martina Stoessel . The song Besos en guerra , which the band recorded together with the Colombian singer Juanes, reached over 200 million views on YouTube (as of November 2018).

The second studio album, Balas Perdidas , was released on October 25, 2018 .
