Paulina Rubio
Paulina Rubio Dosamantes (born June 17, 1971 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican singer of Latin Pop .
Live and act
Rubio is the daughter of Susana Dosamantes , a Mexican actress. Her father Enrique Rubio comes from A Coruña in Galicia . Her stepfather is the Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill . Their music is popular among the Spanish-speaking population mainly in Spain , Latin America and the USA .
She began her career in 1980 at the age of nine. She made her debut appearance with a music group called Timbiriche , to which she belonged from 1982 to 1991 and with which she recorded about ten cassettes. The singer and actress Sasha Sökol sang in the same group from 1986 to 1989 .
After that, Rubio began appearing as an actress in telenovelas on Mexican television. She played her first television role in 1988 in the series Pasión y Poder (Passion and Power).
In 1991 Rubio left Timbiriche and concentrated on her solo career. In the same year she played in Baila Conmigo . In 1994 she made her first appearance in Mexican cinema in the film Bésame en la Boca and in 1995 in Pobre Niña Rica .
In 1992 she released her first solo CD La Chica Dorada , 24 Kilates in 1993 , El Tiempo es Oro in 1995 , Planeta Paulina in 1996 and Paulina in 2000 . The album Paulina was nominated for a Grammy at the Latin Grammy Awards 2000. In 2002 she released her first English-language album, Border Girl . With her album Pau-latina , released in 2004 , Rubio received the Spanish equivalent of the Grammy , the Premio Lo Nuestro as best female artist of the year.
Rubio lives in the cement factory "La Fábrica" near Barcelona, which her stepfather converted.
