Alejandro Fernández
Alejandro Fernández (born April 24, 1971 in Guadalajara ) is a Mexican ranchera and Latin pop singer.
biography
Like his famous father Vicente Fernández , he began with traditional Mexican ranchera and mariachi music. From 1992 he released albums regularly, he established himself in his home country and had his first successes beyond the national borders. Five years and five albums later he switched to the Latin pop genre. After he sang the song Puedes llegar with Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 , he produced the album Me estoy enamorando with the singer's husband, Emilio Estefan , and Kike Santander . It brought him the breakthrough internationally. It even made it onto the official album charts in the United States and sold over a million copies. The album topped the Latin charts and with Si tu supieras , No se olvidar and En el jardín , a duet with Gloria Estefan, the album produced three number one songs on the Latin pop charts.
His next album Mi verdad was a step back to traditional Mexican music and his old producer Pedro Ramírez. For this he received the award for the best Ranchera album ( Mejor álbum de música Ranchera ) and other nominations at the Latin Grammys ceremony, which was held for the first time in 2000 . In the beginning he was unable to build on the major chart successes, but eventually it consolidated his popularity and after three years it was even awarded double platinum in the USA. Older Ranchera albums were also successful afterwards.
With Entre tus brazos , the second album with Estefan and Santander, Fernández finally established himself among the stars of Latin American music in 2000. The album also brought him two number two hits in the US Latin pop charts, Quiéreme and Si te vas . He won his second Latin Grammy in 2004 with his father for a joint live Ranchera album. Throughout the 2000s, he kept switching between pop and traditional music and in 2009 he even released a double album with Dos mundos: Evolución + tradición , which juxtaposed both worlds. With Se me va la voz he had a hit that brought him a number one hit in the Latin pop charts after a long time. The album (more precisely the partial album Tradición ) was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category Mejor álbum de música Ranchera .
In addition to his singing career, Fernandéz also made a foray into the film business in 2004. In the biopic Zapata - El sueño del héroe he played the leading role of the Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata .
In 2005 Alejandro Fernández was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his musical achievements .
