Murder without a corpse

Murder without a corpse refers to a circumstantial trial that leads to the accused being charged or convicted , although the victim was not found as evidence .

A well-known example from Germany is the Otto-Erich Simon case . Prominent examples from the Anglo-American legal community are:

  • Thomas and Jackie Hawks disappeared from their sailing ship in 2004. The US actor Skylar Deleon and his wife were sentenced to death by an Orange County court.
  • A scream in the dark tells of a mother's condemnation for the disappearance of her daughter in Australia, which was only accused of a dingo after years .
  • John George Haigh dissolved his victims in sulfuric acid and was executed in 1949.
  • British backpacker Peter Falconio disappeared in July 2001; Bradley John Murdoch was convicted.
  • After the disappearance of his wife in 2008, Hans Reiser was initially charged with first degree murder and then pleaded guilty in order to receive a lighter sentence for second degree murder .
  • Five-year-old April Sue-Lyn Jones disappeared in Wales on October 1, 2012. Mark Bridger was sentenced to life imprisonment for this.
