The Moreno Rock ( French Île Moreno ) is a 50 m high cliff rock off the Danco coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located in the Gerlache Strait south of Diamonen Island and 11 km west-southwest of Cape Sterneck .
Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery , leader of the Belgica expedition (1897–1899), named him after the Argentine naturalist and explorer Francisco Pascasio Moreno (1852–1919), director of the La Plata Museum . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated the name into English in 1952 in an adapted form.
