Philipp Stachula

Philipp Stachula (born October 14, 1987 ) is a German basketball coach and former player.

Player career

Born in Poland  , Stachula comes from the junior division of SVD 49 Dortmund , for whose men's team he played in the 2nd Bundesliga basketball division in the 2006/07 season  . In 2007, the 1.85-meter-long player moved to the Hertener Löwen , which he reinforced in the 2nd Bundesliga and from 2008 in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In Herten, he acted as team captain.

After two years in Herten, Stachula was signed by the Cuxhaven BasCats in 2009 , with the Lower Saxony team he was runner-up in the 2. Bundesliga ProA in the 2009/10 season . For the 2010/11 season he changed within the ProA to BV Chemnitz 99 and wore the colors of the Saxon team until 2013. In the 2013/14 season, Stachula was in the service of the Paderborn Baskets  (also 2. Bundesliga ProA).

In 2014 he moved to the BBC Magdeburg  in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and became team captain there. In January 2015 he tore a cruciate ligament. This injury meant the end of his career as a player.

Coaching career

Stachula returned to Dortmund in 2015 and took over as coach of the U18 team at TVE Dortmund-Barop. In the summer of 2016, he took up the position of coach at the Metropol Baskets Ruhr syndicate in the youth basketball league  and at the same time became assistant coach at ETB Essen in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA.

In February 2018, Stachula took over the post of head coach of the Essen team, who are now playing in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB, after they had previously separated from Igor Krizanovic . Stachula led the ETB, threatened by the fall in the regional league, in the ProB relegation round to relegation. In the 2018/19 season, his Essen team was withdrawn from their license during the game year, at which time they were bottom of the table. In the summer break of 2019, Stachula took over the coaching position at the Bonn / Rhöndorf game community in the youth basketball league (NBBL).
