The Moreton Point is a headland on the west end of Coronation Iceland in Archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is 1.5 km north of Return Point and represents the northern limit of Fulmar Bay .
The headland was discovered in December 1821 by the seal hunters Nathaniel Palmer and George Powell (1794-1824). Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations made the designation in the course of surveying work in 1933. It is named after Harold Vale Moreton (1901–1982), boatswain's mate of Discovery II from 1931 to 1935.
