Andreas Mendel

Andreas Mendel (* 1982 in Hanover ) is a German oboist .

Life

Andreas Mendel first played the piano and recorder and was a member of the Hanover Boys Choir before he began playing the oboe at the age of 10. He was the first federal prize winner in Jugend musiziert , received a scholarship from the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and the Hans and Eugenia Jütting Foundation, and played in the Federal Youth Orchestra . In 2001 he began studying with Müller-Brincken and Niesemann in Würzburg and graduated in 2008 with Emanuel Abbühl in Mannheim.

Andreas Mendel was initially employed as deputy solo oboist at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and the Munich Radio Orchestra . Andreas Mendel has been principal oboist with the Bruckner Orchester Linz since 2009 . He has performed in numerous well-known orchestras a. a. in the Deutsches Sinfonieorchester Berlin , the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg , the Kammerorchester Basel , the orchestra of the Hamburg State Opera , the Staatstheater Nürnberg and the Camerata Salzburg and worked under conductors like Christopher Hogwood , Marc Minkowski , Dennis Russell Davies , Stanislaw Skrowaczewski , Manfred Honeck and John Eliot Gardiner .

In addition to his work as an orchestral musician, he devotes himself to chamber music in various formations and teaches as a lecturer at courses at home and abroad, e.g. B. at the oboe-bassoon festival in Kremsmünster .
