Moriansmühle
The Moriansmühle or Neue Mühle is a listed , former watermill on the Emscher in Duisburg . The building in Neumühl is one of the oldest preserved mills in the city.

The mill was founded on April 18, 1353 by Count Engelbert von der Mark and Conrad von Stecke and was once one of the ten water mills in the area around Duisburg. It was affiliated with Hamborn Abbey . Its original name "Neue Mühle" gave the district of Neumühl that was developing around it its name. Today's building, which dates from the 16th century, is based on the Dutch brick renaissance .
From 1848 to 1854 the merchant Ludwig Lindgens was the owner of the mill. At the end of the 19th century, Daniel Morian acquired this, which has since been called "Morian's mill", is now known as the "Morians mill". It was shut down during the Emscher regulation between 1910 and 1912. In the 1920s it served as a meeting place for the members of the local chapter of the national and anti-democratic union "Stahlhelm" . In 1977 the local gymnastics and sports club TuS Hamborn-Neumühl acquired the mill and restored it from scratch in three years. In June 1985 the Moriansmühle was added to the list of monuments of the city of Duisburg ( Hamborn district ) and entered as a monument with the number 91. Under its old name, it was used as the “Landhof Neue Mühle” restaurant. After that, the building stood empty for a long time and, including the property, was no longer maintained.
Since January 2020, the mill building and the surrounding area have been renovated by a new owner and used for residential purposes. The establishment of a restaurant is no longer planned. The garden and courtyard area with a new gate offers a listed view of the mill building.
