Moriteru Ueshiba ( Japanese 植 芝 守 央 , Ueshiba Moriteru ; born April 2, 1951 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese Aikidō master and reigning Dōshū of Aikikai .

Moriteru Ueshiba is the second son of Kisshōmaru Ueshiba and a grandson of the founder of Aikidō, Ueshiba Morihei . He successfully studied economics at Meiji Gakuin University . From the age of six he learned Aikido from his grandfather.

After the death of his father Kisshōmaru Ueshiba on January 4, 1999, he took over his place as Dōshū (Master of the Way) and thus the leadership of the Aikikai. Before he took up this position, he was already President of the Aikikai Council of Directors and Head of Aikikai Honbu Dōjō . He is also the president of the Aikikai and the International Aikido Federation .

It is expected that his son Mitsuteru Ueshiba , who has been in charge of the Aikikai Honbu Dōjō since 2012, will succeed him in all of these functions.

He regularly gives Aikido courses all over the world.
