Moritz Baumert
Friedrich Moritz Baumert (born December 26, 1818 in Hirschberg , † September 1865 in Berlin ) was a German physician and chemist.
Baumert first studied medicine , later chemistry under Justus von Liebig , Josef Redtenbacher and Robert Wilhelm Bunsen . After working as a doctor in Breslau for a few years , he completed his habilitation in chemistry at the University of Breslau in 1853 and initially became a private lecturer in Breslau. From 1855 to 1857 he was an associate professor in Bonn .
His habilitation thesis on the respiration of the mud whip was one of the first applications of gas analysis in physiology .
