Moritz Stifter
Moritz Stifter (* 1857 in Vienna ; † 1905 in Mauer-Öhling ) was an Austrian genre painter and nephew of Adalbert Stifter (1805–1868).
Born the son of an engineer, Moritz Stifter initially chose the career of an officer, then studied painting in the Classical Class of Antiquities of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Carl Theodor von Piloty from October 21, 1882 . When enrolling, Stifter stated that he came from Český Krumlov .
From 1899 he lived and worked in his studio in Haag near Neulengbach , Lower Austria . Moritz Stifter almost exclusively painted beautiful women in seductive poses, often in an oriental setting.
