Moritz Wilhelm von Pöllnitz

Moritz Wilhelm von Pöllnitz (born April 24, 1676 in Zeitz ; † December 20, 1725 ) was Privy Councilor and High Court Marshal at the court of Duke Moritz Wilhelm of Saxe-Merseburg and Duchess Henriette Charlotte of Saxe-Merseburg .

Life

He was the son of Ludwig Ernst von Pöllnitz (1641–1695) and Clara Sophie von Bose (1655–1724).

Due to his involvement in the affair of his brother Friedrich Carl von Pöllnitz with the Duchess, he was imprisoned at the Sonnenstein Fortress . Only after the Secret Council Ludwig Adolph von Zech had stood up for him, he was released from prison in 1720 against swearing of the original feud .

Pöllnitz was married to Freiin Maria Margaretha von Schröter . His father-in-law was Johann Alexander von Schröter auf Reinheim in der Burg, imperial councilor as well as princely Hessen-Darmstadt secret councilor and chancellor. The couple had the following children:

  • Christian Ernst Moritz (born January 15, 1705), Württemberg Chamberlain, heir to Reinheim
  • Henriette Phillipina Charlotte († October 16, 1784)
