The building is located in a corner on the south side of Moritzstrasse in Magdeburg's Neue Neustadt district , directly at the confluence of Moritzstrasse with Abendstrasse and the Moritzplatz located there. To the east is the also listed building at Moritzstraße 4a .
Architecture and history
The four-storey building was built in 1886. The builder and contractor was master mason G. Griesemann . At the same time, the neighboring house at Moritzstrasse 4a was built. The partially plastered simple brick building is designed in the neo-baroque style. The house is accessed from the north from Moritzstrasse. The entrance is provided with a portal frame. The facade there has seven axes, while the west facade facing Moritzplatz has only six axes. The ground floor facades are rusticated . On the third floor there are small medallions reminiscent of coats of arms. The corner situation is particularly emphasized by a flat risalit there and a blind niche at the corner.
The building is considered important in terms of urban development.
In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 82217 .
