history
Finds from the younger Stone Age prove an early settlement. In the area of the New Neustadt are the desert areas of Insleben and Lewersdorf . These villages belonged to the Magdeburg Moritzkloster .
After the destruction of the old new town in 1812, the new town was built until 1814. It was named Jerome City by the French authorities . The streets were laid out like a chessboard. On the night pasture was the enclosed pasture for pets. The Schwiesau Hospital had existed in the New Neustadt since 1816 . From the 1830s onwards, factories for processing agricultural products were established. Around 1860 there were four sugar, one chocolate, one chicory factories , one brewery and three machine factories . The New Neustadt originally belonged to the city of Neustadt-Magdeburg and was incorporated into the city of Magdeburg on April 1, 1886. Later, the engine construction branch Magdeburg (MZM) of the Junkers aircraft and engine works was built in the district.
On September 22nd, 1912, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the New New Town was celebrated. In 1914, a memorial stone was erected to commemorate the celebration a little south of the border of the district, in the Alte Neustadt district, to mark the founding of the Neue Neustadt in 1812 .
