Zipkeleben is a district of the city of Magdeburg .

location

With only 94 residents with main residence (as of December 31, 2016), the district east of the Elbe is one of the least populous districts of the city. In the north Zipkeleben borders the district of Berlin Chaussee , west are Cracau and Prester and south Pechau . To the east, Zipkeleben borders the Elbe flood canal , which forms the eastern border of the city.

The area of Zipkelebens is 4.6474 km² and is predominantly characterized by agricultural areas. The development of the district consists of three bungalow settlements with a total of around 100 bungalows, which stretch along the Dreikolke and Zipkeleber Parksee lakes . Up to 250 people live here in the warmer seasons. The Zipkelebener waters are popular fishing areas. The Zipkeleber Parksee is listed as a natural monument . In Zipkeleben there are eight rivers with a total length of 11.03 km. The lakes have an area of 5.29 hectares.

history

Zipkeleben was probably part of the Magdeburg Moritzkloster as early as the 10th century . On September 30, 1928, the Zipkeleben manor district was united with the city of Magdeburg. In 1953 the monastery property was converted to the Prester estate . None of the buildings on the estate have survived - only parts of the enclosures can still be found. There are also remains of the small cemetery in the district - but in an unkempt condition. In 1965 a first settlement of 32 arbors was built on Lake Dreierkolke for anglers, who camped constantly on the flood channel and founded a nudist beach. In 1975 the settlement followed and in 1980 a third bungalow settlement, which was primarily intended for employees of the Magdeburg industrial company MAW .

When the districts were redistributed in 1994, Zipkeleben was established as a separate district.
