Großer Silberberg is a district in the north of the city of Magdeburg .

location

The district is located in the northwest of the city and borders the districts of Alt Olvenstedt , Neu Olvenstedt , Neustädter Feld and Sülzegrund , as well as the village of Ebendorf .

Area / population / geography

The area of the district is 3.8667 km². There is no resident population.

The district is largely undeveloped, but has a shopping center ( Florapark ) and an industrial area on the eastern edge .

The Große Sülze and the Kratzbreite flow through the district . In the district are the surveys Großer Silberberg , which gave the district its name, and Kleiner Silberberg . Both contain stone age barrows .

economy

The western part of the district is used for agriculture. Due to the companies located in the shopping center and the industrial park in the east, the district is of considerable economic importance. In 2002 there were 102 retail establishments, three hairdressers , a butcher , a baker , two tanning salons , a dentist and a pharmacy and eight restaurants. 17 companies belonged to the Chamber of Crafts and 79 to the IHK .

history

The two barrows , which are estimated to be around 5000 to 6000 years old, testify to the ancient settlement of the area .

The area has been run as a separate district since 1992. At this point in time, further development of the then agriculturally used area as a commercial area was planned. However, there was then no need for this. Other already developed industrial areas ( industrial area north ) were not sufficiently used. In addition, the originally existing motorway exit from the A 2 was no longer available after the motorway was expanded.
