Sülzegrund is a district in the north of the city of Magdeburg .
Location and inhabitants
In the Sülzegrund district, only 8 people (as of December 31, 2016) live on an area of 3.3749 km². In the east the district borders on the districts of Neustädter See and Kannenstieg , in the south on Neustädter Feld , in the west on the district of Großer Silberberg and in the north on the municipality of Barleben . Federal motorway 2 runs along the northern border .
The district essentially consists of agricultural land. There are commercial areas (Sülzeborn and Pfahlberg) in the south and north of the area.
The area is crossed by the stream Große Sülze , after which the district also takes its name. Another watercourse is the Pfahlberggraben , which flows into the Große Sülze.
history
The remains of the Pfahlberg barrow , from which the name of the northern industrial area is derived, are reminiscent of early settlements in the area .
When the districts were redistributed in 1991, the area was designated as a separate district for the first time. The background to this were plans to set up large industrial areas in Sülzegrund. However, these plans were not implemented.
economy
25 member companies of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and 5 craft businesses have settled in the existing commercial areas (as of 2002). The northern Pfahlberg industrial park is geared towards retail and is also the location of a large cinema (Cinestar) and a bowling and leisure center (US Play).
