New Apostolic Church Magdeburg-Neustadt

The New Apostolic Church Magdeburg-Neustadt is a New Apostolic Church in Magdeburg 's Neue Neustadt district .

history

The beginnings of the Neustädter municipality go back to the year 1895. The first service took place on April 1, 1895, but not yet in a church building. Various rooms were rented and converted for the purposes of worship. In December 1930, the property at Moritzplatz 5 in Magdeburg-Neue Neustadt was acquired in order to build a chapel for the community. However, due to the effects of the Second World War , the chapel was initially not built. The plans were only taken up again after the end of the war and the chapel was consecrated in February 1950. In 1956, the increasing number of members made a renovation necessary. After the political turning point in 1989, plans to build a new church in place of the chapel could be realized. The foundation stone was laid in October 1993. On December 17, 1994, after a construction period of 13 months, the newly built church, designed by the architect Hermann Jäckle , was inaugurated.

architecture

The one-storey church with no basement has 160 seats. The partially reinforced concrete building is covered with a pent roof above the church interior. To the south there is an extension covered with a flat roof. The walls of the outer and inner sides are white and with structural plaster provided. The windows are designed as thermal and lead glazing as wood-aluminum windows. The floors are covered with yellow Jura marble. The interior fittings such as cupboards, doors, stalls, altar and organ prospect are made of stained oak .
