Kreuzkirche (Magdeburg)
The Kreuzkirche is a Protestant church in the Magdeburg district northwest .
history
Although shortly after the Second World War there was a Protestant congregation in the north-west district, it had to do without a church building for a long time. A building application was only submitted in 1953. In 1954 the shell was removed, but it was not released for use until June 1956. The rectory was built later.
Building
According to the building application, 156 seats are available in the church and 50 seats in the community room. The foundation walls of the church were built from rubble stones from the Magdeburg Petrikirche. Above the entrance to the church you can see a figurative representation of the Archangel Michael by the Schönebeck artist Katharina Heise .
Trivia
The pastor of the community is Renate Höppner, the wife of the former Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt , Reinhard Höppner . A children's service is held for almost every service.
