The New Apostolic Church Magdeburg-Leipziger Strasse is a New Apostolic Church in the Magdeburg district of Leipziger Strasse .

history

There have been people of the New Apostolic faith in Magdeburg since 1888. A first family first attended church services in Mahlpfuhl . The first Magdeburg assembly room was built in Lemsdorfer Weg 2 in Sudenburg in August 1895. Over time, four communities emerged in the urban area. The municipalities of Magdeburg-Sudenburg, Magdeburg-Mitte and Magdeburg- Wilhelmstadt merged to form Magdeburg-Süd in 1921, after they had bought a plot of land at 52 Leipziger Strasse. The Magdeburg-Neustadt congregation later moved into its own property on which the New Apostolic Church Magdeburg-Neustadt is located today . Between 1987 and 1992, the Magdeburg-Süd community replaced the half-timbered building from the 19th century that was initially used by a modern church. The foundation stone was laid in October 1987, the inauguration on November 21, 1992.

Building

The church building on Leipziger Strasse is a single-storey building with a full basement, which is clad with sandstone and the base with Theuma slate . The design comes from the architect Preil . The construction was carried out as a brick-lined steel structure. The windows have thermal and lead glazing and are designed as wood-aluminum composite windows. The interior can accommodate 1,300 people and is dominated by white ceilings and walls. Yellow Jura marble serves as the floor. Altar , organ prospectus , stalls and doors are made of wood in shades of brown. Since December 1994 there has been a three-manual organ with 46 registers created by the Halberstadt organ building company Reinhard Hüfken . The instrument's telescope is located on the rear gallery .
