history

A church built in 1558 belonged to Gut Randau. It was partially destroyed during the Thirty Years' War in 1631, later rebuilt and then restored several times. At the beginning of the 19th century, however, it had finally become dilapidated. From 1821, the church began to be renovated in stages.

First, the old apse was demolished and one of the rare east church towers was built on the foundation walls of the chancel, which initially only had two floors. After more than a decade, work began on building a new nave in 1833. It was given a prayer room-like , spacious and square shape. On the occasion of renewed work that was necessary again in 1849, an additional bell storey with a high point was added to the tower. After the top was destroyed in a lightning strike in 1911, the tower was given a simple gable roof.

In 1886 a new west entrance was added, in which a figural tombstone with a family coat of arms and worked in the Renaissance style for the manor owner Andreas von Alvensleben († 1565) was located. On the east wall there are gravestones with inscriptions from 1730 and from the 19th century. From July 1941, the Westerhüsener pastor Albert Hosenthien was also responsible for the Randau parish.

The interior of the church was redesigned in 1968.
