history

On the edge of the Neustädter See residential area in the north of Magdeburg, the foundation stone for this modern hall church was laid on Thanksgiving Day 1980.

The building was consecrated on May 24, 1984. The design comes from Oberkirchenbaurat Sußmann, the hanging crucifix is the work of the Magdeburg pastor Andreas Herbst. In 1998 an organ was installed in the church , the prospect of which is modeled on a ginkgo leaf and on which the organist does not sit with his back but with a view of the congregation.

Building

The Hope Church stands out due to its modern architecture, which is determined by the tent-like roof. On the 16-meter-high roof top is a stainless steel cross with two crossbars so that it can be seen as a cross from all directions. The wooden bell tower stands in front of the church. The two bells in it were cast from the bells of St. Peter's Church, which burst during the Second World War . Original stones from destroyed churches in Magdeburg are embedded in the interior of the church.
