Neustadt-Magdeburg
Neustadt-Magdeburg was a town in the Prussian province of Saxony until 1886 . It consisted of the area of today's Magdeburg districts of Alte Neustadt and Neue Neustadt and was incorporated into the city of Magdeburg in 1886.
history
The city was the first time in 1209 as "civitas nova" (new city) in the report on the conflict between Emperor Otto IV. And Archbishop Albrecht I mentioned. In 1230 it was granted city rights by Albrecht I as an independent city.
Since 1680 the Neustadt belonged to the Brandenburg-Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg and was in what was then Holzkreis II. On the orders of Napoleon I , most of the Alte Neustadt was demolished in 1812 in order to build fortifications and their strategic surroundings. As a replacement, the New Neustadt was founded on the road to Barleben .
Since the subdivision of the administrative district of Magdeburg into districts in 1816, the city of Neustadt-Magdeburg has belonged to the Magdeburg district . In the district council of the Magdeburg district she provided three of the eleven members. On April 1, 1886, the city was incorporated into the city of Magdeburg through a unification treaty.
