Moshik Roth (born December 12, 1972 in Haifa ) is an Israeli cook who works in the Netherlands .

Life

Restaurant & moshik

Roth has a Russian father and a Romanian mother. After four years of military service , he learned hotel management in Eilat and met his future Dutch wife Els. In 1995 they both went to the Netherlands. There he was manager of a pizzeria , then he worked in Jonnie Boer's Restaurant De Librije and in Restaurant Zwetheul near Rotterdam .

In 2001 he opened his own restaurant 't Brouwerskolkje near Amsterdam ; he was the head chef and his wife was a sommelier . In 2006 the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star , and in 2009 a second.

Roth often went to Alsace to work with Jean-Georges Klein ; some of the dishes in both restaurants were similar. His dishes offer a mix of classic and molecular cuisine .

In August 2012 he opened the restaurant & samhoud places in Amsterdam , together with the entrepreneur Salem Samhoud. The restaurant immediately received two Michelin stars in November 2012. Since January 2018 the restaurant has been called & moshik .

Roth took part as one of the three judges in the Israeli cooking show Game of Chefs .

Private life

In 2016, Roth divorced. In 2017 he married Shiran Ben Shushan. A daughter was born in March 2017 and a son in June 2018.
