The Moscow ridge is a very elongated ridge in Russia up to 311 m high .
The ridge is part of the great Eastern European Plain and the eastern continuation of the Smolensk Heights . It is located northwest and northeast of Moscow ; at its western end the ridge also merges seamlessly into the elongated Central Russian Plate .
The mountainous landscape of the Moscow ridge is characterized by hilly and mountainous areas, through which deeply indented river valleys run.
The Klyazma River has its source in the Moscow ridge . The largest city is Moscow , which extends south of the ridge.
