The Motorola Backflip is a smartphone from Motorola with Android 1.5, which is available in Germany since April of 2010.
The most noticeable feature of the backflip is the fold-out QWERTY keyboard, which comes out from behind when the keyboard is folded up. The lens of the 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED photo light are located at the top left of the keyboard. The Motorola Backflip has the typical features of a smartphone such as: WLAN IEEE 802.11b / g, HSDPA , Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, EDGE , GSM , GPRS and an A-GPS receiver. The backflip's touchscreen is capacitive but doesn't support multi-touch as it has the outdated version of the Android operating system.
An update to Android 2.1 “Eclair” should follow in the third quarter of 2010. However, this announcement has been partially revised by Motorola. An upgrade to a higher version than 1.5 "Cupcake" is no longer planned, except for the US market.
