Mount Braun is a 900 m high mountain in the north of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It forms the northeastern extension of the Sofia Mountains and the northeastern part of a horseshoe-shaped ridge 5.5 km east-southeast of Mount Holt .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him after Lieutenant Commander William K. Braun of the United States Navy , commander of a C-121J Super Constellation of the VX-6 flight squadron in Operation Deep Freeze in 1970 and 1971.
